John Graves Simcoe (25 February 1752 – 26 October 1806) a British Army officer, the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada (1791-1796), founder of York (Toronto).

Sir Isaac Brock (6 October 1769 – 13 October 1812) a British Army officer and a provincial government administrator (Ontario). Commanding the British forces he died heroically at the Battle of Queenston Heights (Niagara River) where the attempted invasion of Upper Canada by the Americans was stopped.

Joseph Brant.

Thayendanegea or Joseph Brant (March 1743 – 24 November 1807) Mohawk chief, brought several thousand native immigrants from America to Canada (1776-1779), they were loyal to the Crown and were granted land in Ontario.

Laura Secord.

Secord

Laura Secord (Ingersoll) (13 September 1775 – 17 October 1868) – hero of the War of 1812, a housewife of Queenston (town of Niagara-on-the Lake, Ontario), who walked 30 km to Beaver Dams (22 June 1813) to warn the British forces of an upcoming American attack and by doing this has helped prevent the capture of the British outpost and to win the Battle of Beaver Dams (24 June 1813).

Tecumseh.

Tecumeh

Tecumseth (Tecumtha, Tekumthi, “Shooting Star”) (March 1768 – 5 October 1813) – Shawnee tribe chief, leader of a confederacy of Indian tribes which fought against the Americans for their lands, ally of the British against the Americans in the War of 1812. Heroically died in battle at Moraviantown (present day Thamesville, Ontario) 5 October 1813.

James Wolfe (2 January 1727 – 13 September 1759) a British Army officer, commanded the British forces at the battle of the Plains of Abraham (Battle of Quebec) (13 September 1759) between the British Army and Navy and the French. Wolfe fought and died heroically at this battle which brought victory to the British and marked the end of New France.

Montcalm fought heroically but was wounded by a musket ball and died the next day.

Jaques Cartier (31 December 1491 – 1 September 1557) a French mariner and explorer, who under the commission of Francois I, king of France, discovered and described the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and  Saint Lawrence River area (1534, 1535-1536, 1541-1542). Cartier took the Indian word “kanata” (village, community) to be the name of the land he found.

The Inuit are the native people of the Canadian Arctic. In the Inuktitut (Inuttituut) language Inuit means “people”. Europeans called them Eskimo (“eater of raw meat”). The Inuit always were  hunter-gatherers,  moving from place to place.

The image of the dolls and the costumes was made on the basis of the original Copper Inuit (Kitlinermiut) photos.

Iroquois warrior.

Iroquois – aboriginal of Canada, a member of Iroquois Tribe.

Iroquois – several Iroquoian speaking North American Indian tribes (the Cayuga, Cherokee, Huron, Oneida, Seneca, Tuscarora), whose historical roots walk away to that ancient Paleo-Indian people. They lived around lakes Ontario, Erie, Huron and to the east to St. Lawrence region.

The name “Iroquois” is the French derivation of “Irinakhoiw”, meaning “rattlesnakes”, Algonquian enemy’s epithet. Iroquois called themselves “Hodenosaunee”, meaning “people of the longhouse”.

  3. “Sisters” were not created for playing. However, you can with great care take off and put on their hats and set up this doll composition according to your taste and vision.
  4. You will receive “Sisters” in a beautiful decorative box. To take them out of the box you should untie the pink ribbon and gently take them out with the doll stand. The hats will be pinned to the pillow with four white pins.
  5. Since “Sisters” were made for viewing, it would better to put them in a display case or under a glass dome that will protect them from the dust. Please keep them out of the sun and direct light to keep the fabric from fading.
